Our mission
Our mission is to enable everyone to create without limitations—providing tools that empower individuals to make, build, and innovate regardless of physical ability.
Adaptive Artisans was founded on the principle that creativity and innovation belong to everyone. We believe that physical disability should never be a barrier to the joy of making, building, and expressing oneself through craftsmanship and technology.
Our flagship product, the Assisted Maker’s Workbench, is designed to bring adaptive making tools directly to individuals, schools, and universities. This innovative workbench adapts to the unique needs of each user, enabling hands-on creativity regardless of physical limitations.
As a nonprofit organization, we are committed to expanding access to maker culture and STEM education for people with disabilities. We work closely with educators, occupational therapists, and community partners to develop tools that are not just functional, but truly empowering.
Adaptive Artisans is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are committed to accessibility, inclusion, and empowerment through maker education.
programs and services.
Adaptive Artisans is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit making the joy of creating accessible to everyone through three core programs:
The Assisted Maker's Workbench — Our flagship adaptive workstation, engineered for individuals with physical disabilities. Featuring height-adjustable surfaces, one-handed operation, and interchangeable attachments, it supports woodworking, crafting, and fabrication across schools, universities, vocational programs, and rehab centers — with full installation, training, and ongoing support.
Community Outreach & Education — We bring inclusive workshops and maker education directly to schools, community centers, libraries, and disability organizations. Every session is designed from the ground up to be accessible to participants of all ability levels.
Resource & Research Development — We research the needs of disabled makers and translate findings into free, open-source guidelines and tools — developed in collaboration with occupational therapists, educators, engineers, and people with lived experience of disability.
Get Involved — Whether you're an educator, individual, researcher, or supporter, we'd love to connect. Our work is powered by donors, volunteers, and community partners. Visit our Contact page to learn more.
